Welcome, kids, to your page! You are our Wildlife Guardians. You might not be old enough, yet, to go out and rescue injured wildlife, but here you can have fun while learning about our Aussie animals and birds.
We’ll be adding more over the coming weeks, so come back often to check out your page.

Go Gently
Where
Eagles fly
The Wedge-tailed eagle, the most common of the world’s large eagles, is our largest bird of prey and has a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres. It can fly as high as 2000 metres in the sky.
Protected by law, it is the fauna emblem of the Northern Territory.

Look up,
Koalas hide here
Koalas are close relatives to wombats. They are not bears. They sleep for up to 18 hours a day. When born, a koala weighs only half a gram, and is about the size of a bee!

Kangaroos’ crossing
Kangaroos are the largest marsupial in the world. The kangaroo was chosen for Australia’s coat of arms because it is always moving forward and never backwards.

Detour, Birds Nest here
Australia has 1700 different species of birds. Of those,
46 species are in danger of becoming extinct because our forests are disappearing.

Hush, possums are sleeping
A ringtail possum’s tail is as long as its body, which can be used to carry nesting materials as well as for hanging onto branches.
